From 12–14 June 2026, Golden Sands hosted the XIX Conference of the Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the III Conference of the Bulgarian Society of Retinology. The forum brought together nearly 250 specialists from Bulgaria and abroad under the motto “This is the way”.

The scientific programme featured 50 lecturers with nearly 60 presentations and more than 40 clinical cases, dedicated to the latest advances in cataract and refractive surgery, retinology, glaucoma, corneal diseases, and modern therapeutic approaches.

Among the international guests were Prof. Irit Bahar and Prof. Michael Mimouni.

The scientific programme covered a wide range of topics, including traumatic injuries of the anterior and posterior eye segments, glaucoma, ocular aberrations and their clinical applications, corneal diseases, cataract and refractive surgery, retinal diseases, and modern therapeutic approaches.

As part of the conference, a competition was held on the topic “Assessment of the Risk for Developing Disease in the Fellow Eye of Patients with Advanced AMD”, while the final day was dedicated to the practical course “Lasers in Retinal Pathology”.
